German Startup Cup
The German Startup Cup was created by the non-profit association GFFT e.V. to strengthen the innovative power of Germany as a business location and to support young companies in establishing themselves on the market and coming into contact with customer companies. The competition is intended to help raise the profile of innovation and improve the conditions for developing forward-looking technologies. In order to draw more attention to the technology startup sector, various aspects of sports, such as cup rounds, standings and final events will be transferred to the world of startups. The series of events will be supported by a high-level presidium of experts. These include Prof. Dr. Antonio Krüger, Chairman of the Board of Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz GmbH, Prof. Dr. Hans-Jörg Bullinger, former President of Fraunhofer Gesellschaft and Prof. Dr. Walther Ch. Zimmerli as Chairman of the Cup Presidium.
The German Startup Cup season starts every year in September with the first quarterfinals. In each cup event, four startups compete, two of which qualify for the next round. In each competition category, 4 quarterfinals are held in the fall and winter. These are followed by two semi-finals each in winter and spring. In late spring and summer, the total of five final events are held. These are planned as F2F events at major host companies.
