edge.SHIELDOR works like a protective “glass dome” placed over each production line, safeguarding the production equipment and the company network from cyber threats. Despite strict security measures, like the complete separation of IT and OT networks, edge.SHIELDOR enables secure data exchange between IT and OT networks.
The product converts insecure protocols into secure ones, allowing legacy machines to be integrated safely into modern IT networks, providing access to process data. Furthermore, machines which were previously disconnected from the network due to security concerns are now back in operation, with their software-based service life effectively extended. With edge.SHIELDOR’s protective “glass dome,” machines can be operated securely even when critical updates are pending. These updates can be scheduled during planned maintenance windows, minimizing unexpected downtime.
Automated update routines ensure continuous compliance with the latest security standards, enhancing long-term protection. Access to the products instances is restricted to authorized users only, managed through a company-wide user directory service or a locally integrated user management system. Additional authentication mechanisms can be implemented to further enhance security. edge.SHIELDOR supports fully documented communication, providing detailed logs of all IT/OT interactions. This functionality is crucial for transparency, traceability, and compliance in production environments.
